    Three Archmere Students Named Regional Scholastic Writing Awards Winners

    Valentina Ramos ’26, Rebecca Wang ’26 and Brianna Yang ’25 have been named this year’s Gold Key Scholastic Writing award regional winners. Rebecca and Valentina received their gold keys and certificates on Sunday, March 30th, at the Oliver’s Golf Club in Wilmington. The awards ceremony was hosted by the regional National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) in conjunction with Scholastic Writing and Art Awards.

    Ava Milewski '28 and Juliet Polsky '28 Lead Softball Team to Season Opening Win

    In their season opener on March 26, Archmere freshman Ava Milewski pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts, and classmate Juliet Polsky went three for three and drove in four runs in a 13-2 five-inning victory over MOT Charter. The Auks scored all of their runs in the first three innings.

  • Math League Teams Earn Second in State Invitational

    On Wednesday, March 26, two teams of Archmere students competed at the State Math Meet Invitational, held in Dover. In order to qualify for the State Meet, Archmere's Math League teams competed in 4 regular season meets from October to February this year, earning excellent results. At the Dover State Meet, the 9th grade A team and the 10th-12th grade A team placed second in the state overall!

    Four Archmere Art Students Featured in Delaware Department of Education's Youth Art Month Exhibition

    Youth Art Month is an annual observance each year to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. It is observed in March, administered by the Council for Art Education (CFAE), with thousands of American schools participating. Often, local art museums and civic organizations are involved in promoting the work. The 2024/2025 theme is “Healing Through Color”.

    Jace Walker Selected as Governor’s Volunteer Service Award Recipient

    The Governor’s Youth Volunteer Service Awards recognize and celebrates outstanding volunteers in our community. Jace Walker '25 has been selected to receive the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, and will be honored on Thursday, May 1st in Dover, DE.   • Two Archmere Students Recognized with National Scholastic Art Medals

    The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, has recognized two Archmere students with National Scholastic Medals. Nearly 110,000 teens entered more than 310,000 original works of art and writing to the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Roman Guerrieri '25 was awarded a National Silver Medal for his "Handy Holder" Architecture & Industrial Design Category, and Grace Yang '25 was awarded a Gold Medal, Painting Category, for her piece entitled "Feeling Buggy."

  • Mock Trial Team Successfully Competes at the Justice Center in Wilmington

    The Delaware High School Mock Trial Competition took place on February 28 and March 1, 2025 at the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center. Varsity Team Captains Brianna Yang (‘25) and Daniel Qi (‘26) led their team through 4 rounds of competition, winning two rounds and ending in a tie in two rounds.

  • Stephanie Silverman ‘00 Featured Presenter at National Art Education Association National Convention

    Archmere Art & Design Department faculty member Stephanie Silverman '00 has been invited as a Featured Presenter to speak at the National Art Education Association National Convention in Kentucky. Her presentation, titled Optimizing Creative Agency & Scaffolding for Success: A Backwards-Designed Curricular Framework for AP Studio Art, was accepted for inclusion in the 2025 NAEA National Convention program, taking place March 20–22, 2025, in Louisville, KY.

  • Daniel Qi '26, Isabelle Kim ‘27 Win Big at the MTNA Senior Performance Competition

    Two members of our Helena Raskob Arts Institute competed in Minneapolis at the Music Teachers National Association Senior Performance competitions this month. Isabelle Kim ‘27 was one of seven national finalists winning a merit award for Senior Voice Performance. Daniel Qi ‘26 was named the first place winner of the Senior Strings Performance competition, receiving a $2000 prize. Both Isabelle and Daniel were awarded $1000 gifts from the Delaware State Music Teachers Association.

  • Audrey Curtis and Iyanna Flores Selected to Attend the YMCA National Changemakers Summit

    Archmere sophomores Audrey Curtis and Iyanna Flores have been selected to represent the state of Delaware at the YMCA National Changemakers Summit in Orlando, FL, from June 27-29, 2025. The YMCA National Changemakers Summit is a national event where high school students propose and present projects addressing critical issues in their communities, with finalists receiving funding to implement their ideas.

  • Science Olympiad Team Medals in Multiple Events

    On Saturday, March 1, the Archmere Science Olympiad team competed at the Delaware State Tournament, held at Cab Calloway. Both the A and B teams competed in the all-day tournament against 46 other teams. The Science Olympiad competition consists of a combination of tests and building events.

    From the Tony and Grammy award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (Waitress), Alice by Heart is a touching musical inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Featuring an incredible pop-rock score and a unique twist on Lewis Carroll's classic tale, Alice by Heart follows the story of a young girl who takes refuge in a London Tube station during WWII and confronts grief, loss, and love with the help of her favorite book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

  • Boys, Girls Indoor Track Teams Cap Off Successful Season at DIAA State Championships

    The 2024-25 Delaware high school indoor track and field season came to a close on Saturday, February 22 in Philadelphia, PA. The DIAA Championships were held at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center, a roughly $70 million facility that opened in December. The Ott Center has a 200-meter banked track, two jumps runways, two pole vault runways and seating for more than 1,000 spectators. The Auks were well represented with 11 individual qualifiers in 10 different events.

    Archmere Wrestling Ends Successful Season, Jason Suydam '25 Heads to Individual Championship

    The Archmere Academy Wrestling team finished 10th out of 18 teams at the 2025 DIAA Independent Qualifier on Saturday, February 22. Seven wrestlers navigated through tough brackets and placed in the top 8 of their weight class. Senior Jason Suydam placed 5th at the 132-pound weight class and qualified for the DIAA Individual Wrestling State Championships, held on Friday, February 28th at Cape Henlopen High School.

  • Celebrating the Creativity & Innovation of our Scholastics Winners

    The Art & Design and English departments joined forces on Monday, February 24th to celebrate the record number (235 combined awards) of Scholastic Art & Writing honors awarded to Archmere students in the 2025 competition. All entries were evaluated by a panel of jurors in specialty fields of writing, art and design. Student winners are honored by the Scholastics Program in Dover, Delaware, at a reception at regional affiliate Delaware State University. This year, in addition to the regional reception, both Archmere departments wanted to celebrate the undeniable creativity, imagination, and technical skill of our incredible students on campus in the Patio, with faculty from both departments in attendance. Students enjoyed treats from Sage Dining, and certificates and Gold and Silver Key pins were distributed to our incredible students.

  • Archmere Welcomes Students From Senlis, France

    From February 8th-21st, Archmere hosted 13 students and 2 teachers from our sister school, Lycée Saint Vincent, in Senlis, France, as part of Archmere’s long standing French exchange. Archmere host families graciously opened their homes, and the French students and teachers not only spent time on campus, but enjoyed outings to several area favorites, as well as visits to Philadelphia, the University of Delaware, and NYC.

  • Swim Team Competes at DIAA State Championship Meet

    The Archmere Swim Team competed in the DIAA Swimming & Diving Championship Finals on Saturday, February 22, 2025. The State Preliminaries were held during the week, with Finals taking place all day Saturday at the University of Delaware. The State Championship Meet is a qualifying meet, and several members of the Archmere team competed in the Prelims, at which seven members of the girls team and seven members of the boys team earned a spot in Finals.

    Emily Mayo '25 Recipient of Platt Evans Scholarship

    Archmere senior Emily Mayo is one of five students from the Philadelphia area recently named a recipient of the Platt Evans Scholarship – a full housing and tuition college grant awarded to golf caddies. The result of a partnership between the Western Golf Association’s (WGA) Evans Scholars Foundation (ESF) and the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust, Platt Evans Scholars are chosen based on showing a strong caddie record, excellent academics, financial need and outstanding character.

    Archmere senior Jack Chesman has been named winner of the 2024 Michael DeLucia Sportsmanship Award, presented annually to a senior football player from a Delaware Catholic high school. The award is presented to a player who has exemplified outstanding performance, attitude and character on and off the field.

  • Archmere Seniors Named National Merit Finalists

    Archmere seniors Yuk Yu Yu (Arlene) Chiu, Brianna Yang and Grace Yang have met all requirements to advance to the Finalist standing of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) after being named Semifinalists in September 2024. These academically talented seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $28 million that will be offered to the winners. The selection of approximately 6,780 Merit Scholarship award winners from the group of nearly 15,000 will be decided in March.

  • Archmere Math League Teams Qualify for the State Invitational

    Both the 9th grade and 10th-12th Math League teams finished very strong in the regional competition!

    After the final regional Math League meet, Archmere's 10th-12th A and B teams are in 1st and 2nd place in our region out of 10 teams. Kabir Goyal and Kevin Xiao tied for 1st place overall with 23 points each, Kathrine Wang is in 2nd place with 17 points, and Daniel Qi in 3rd place with 16 points. Zora Zhang, Rebecca Wang, Alice Zhang and Amy Yin ranked just below them with every student from other schools placing below all of them. Both teams are headed to the State Invitational Meet at the end of March.

    The Department of World Languages and Cultures began the next cycle of Archmere's Exchange Program this month. We welcomed 10 students from Yanping High School, located in Daan District, Taipei City, Taiwan. Two teachers accompanied the 10 students, who were matched with and hosted by Archmere families in their homes.

  • Tapestry Magazine Wins Highest Honor for Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Contest

    Tapestry 2024, the Archmere Academy Student Literary Magazine, has been recognized as a First Class magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Published annually, Tapestry is a student run literary and fine arts magazine, supported and advised by Archmere English Teacher Mr. Stephen Klinge. 2024 editor was Alicia Chu ’24. This year, schools in 46 states and five countries nominated 422 student magazines.

    Congratulations to the HRAI String Ensemble, who earned a Superior Plus rating at the Delaware State Music Teachers Association Ensemble Festival on February 2, 2025. Submitted work was reviewed and recognized by a panel of creative professionals, and awarded for its outstanding merit in originality, skill, and the emergence of your personal voice and vision.

    Widener University, in partnership with NBC10 and Telemundo62, recently announced Archmere junior Kellyn Williams as one of the recipients of the 13th annual Widener University High School Leadership Awards. For the past 14 years, Widener University has partnered with high school administrators in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware to acknowledge and honor the region’s best and brightest future leaders who take it upon themselves to make a significant difference in their schools and communities. As a selected student, Kellyn will be honored and recognized during a special celebration held at the National Constitution Center.

  • Model UN Students Fare Well at Ivy League Conference

    Last weekend, 13 members of our Model UN club attended the 2025 Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC), hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. Students gathered with over 2,000 other delegates from across the United States and other parts of the world to address global issues, both past and present. Our delegates wrote directives, forged alliances, and collaborated and compromised with students from over 100 participating schools.

    Grace Yang '25 Recognized as American Visions Nominee

    The American Voices Award for writing and the American Visions Award for art are prestigious honors that represent the different geographic regions of the Scholastic Awards. Senior Grace Yang’s drawing and illustration, Elevator Space, was selected as one of the Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards' American Vision Nominees. Grace is an AP 2D Design student of Archmere Art Teacher, Ms. Rachel Briggs.

  • Writing Students Compete in "Fright Club" Contest

    During October’s spooky season, several Archmere students competed to give readers the biggest “fright” by composing a 100-word or less mini saga. Participants were challenged to write a mini saga featuring a scary story with a thrilling twist or a funny tale of things going bump in the night. Students could opt to submit their sagas to a national level competition via the Young Writers 2024 “Fright Club” contest.

  • Medical Illustrator Wai-Man Chan Speaks to Art Students

    On January 28th our National Art Honor Society hosted Medical Illustrator Wai-Man Chan as part of the Winter Lecture Series. A creative director at Real Chemistry, Ms. Chan leads the development of scientific visualizations for a variety of pharmaceutical clients - most recently Bristol Myer's Squibb pipeline of blockbuster oncology drugs. Ms. Chan spoke to the students about her path to her career as a Medical Illustrator, in addition to showing them a variety of projects and campaigns that she has worked on.

  • Bridget Malloy '26 Scores 31 Points in Win over MOT Charter

    On January 23rd in the Moglia Fieldhouse, Archmere junior Bridget Malloy scored 31 points in three quarters of action in a 65-38 girls basketball win over MOT Charter. Bridget is only the second person to score over 30 points in the last 15 years at Archmere. This was the Auks’ second consecutive win.

    Archmere senior Charlie Malloy scored 18 points, "several when his team needed them the most", as Archmere remained undefeated with a 53-48 win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday, January 8th. Junior John Orsini scored 14 and Ryan Hagenberg added 10 as the Auks competed against Brandywine at home in the Moglia Fieldhouse.

  • Kindred Ballard Breaks Shotput Record as Track and Field Competes at the Armory

    Last weekend, the Archmere indoor track team once again traveled to the New Balance Track and Field in New York to participate in the Annual US Air Force Hispanic Games at the Armory. Held over two days, teams from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Maryland competed against the country's top high school track and field athletes at the world's premier indoor track and field facility. Kindred Ballard ’26 broke the school record in the shot put with a throw of 36-5.5!

    Senior Jack Bradley Wins Football Mini Max Award

    Maxwell Football Club President, Mark Dianno, announced the 2024 Mini Max High School Award winners for the state of Delaware last week. Archmere senior Jack Bradley has been named one of forty-four Mini Max high school award winners for Delaware by the Maxwell Football Club. Jack joins 155 student-athletes from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Players were nominated by their coaches throughout the 2024 season and were evaluated based on criteria that includes: football performance, academics, and community service.
