“Matilda” Wins Two Cappies Awards

Earlier this spring, the Archmere winter musical, Matilda, was nominated for eleven Cappies Awards, which is the most nominations that Archmere has ever received for a production.
The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews. Matilda hosted over forty critics from all over the Philly area.

On Sunday, June 2, Archmere Director Mr. Brian Manelski attended the Eighteenth Annual Cappies Gala at the Cardinal O'Hara Performing Arts Center. The Gala, an end of the season "Tony’s-like celebration", highlights all nominated high school shows through performances, and the final Cappies Awards are presented. Awards are given for performance, non-performance, and best critics.

Matilda won two Cappies on Sunday, June 2:

Supporting Actress in a Musical - Bridget McNamara
Featured Actor in a Musical - Caleigh Crane

Congratulations to the Archmere Drama Club for an incredible season this year!
