Two Archmere Students Recognized with National Scholastic Art Medals
The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, has recognized two Archmere students with National Scholastic Medals. Nearly 110,000 teens entered more than 310,000 original works of art and writing to the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Roman Guerrieri '25 was awarded a National Silver Medal for his "Handy Holder" Architecture & Industrial Design Category, and Grace Yang '25 was awarded a Gold Medal, Painting Category, for her piece entitled "Feeling Buggy."
These two pieces of art and design were selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Since 1923, the Awards have celebrated teen artists and writers from across the country. Roman and Grace are now part of that legacy, joining the ranks of notable alumni including Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, Amanda Gorman, and Andy Warhol—all of whom won Scholastic Awards when they were teens. Grace and Roman's work will be featured in the online galleries at artandwriting.org, and their names will also be listed in Yearbook 2025, a companion to the annual art and writing anthologies that feature selections of works by National Medalists.
