Stephanie Silverman ‘00 Featured Presenter at National Art Education Association National Convention

Archmere Art & Design Department faculty member Stephanie Silverman '00 has been invited as a Featured Presenter to speak at the National Art Education Association National Convention in Kentucky. Her presentation, titled Optimizing Creative Agency & Scaffolding for Success: A Backwards-Designed Curricular Framework for AP Studio Art, was accepted for inclusion in the 2025 NAEA National Convention program, taking place March 20–22, 2025, in Louisville, KY.
This is Silverman’s tenth time presenting on best practices for curriculum and instructional design at the NAEA National Convention, the largest gathering of visual arts education professionals in the world. Programming spans across all levels and aspects of visual arts education with content offered by and for pre-K-12 visual arts, design, and media arts educators; preservice students studying to become visual arts educators; museum educators; professors of art education; researchers and scholars; arts supervisors and administrators; teaching artists; retired art educators; and anyone committed to quality arts education for all learners.

Silverman’s presentation features Archmere Academy’s AP Studio Art program as an exemplar for instructional excellence evidenced by consistently high scores on the AP Studio Art Exam. Archmere offers all three AP Studio Art courses: AP Drawing, AP 2D Design, and AP 3D Design. AP courses offer students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.

Session Description:
"In this instructional practices session, learn how one AP Studio Art teacher has designed a choice-based, backwards-designed AP Studio Art curriculum to optimize student-driven inquiry, creativity, and skill development, resulting in consistently high scores and success on the AP Studio Art Exam."
