Audrey Curtis and Iyanna Flores Selected to Attend the YMCA National Changemakers Summit

Archmere sophomores Audrey Curtis and Iyanna Flores have been selected to represent the state of Delaware at the YMCA National Changemakers Summit in Orlando, FL, from June 27-29, 2025. The YMCA National Changemakers Summit is a national event where high school students propose and present projects addressing critical issues in their communities, with finalists receiving funding to implement their ideas.
YMCA Changemakers projects are completely youth-led. Each year, students participating in YMCA Changemakers select an issue based on the needs of their local communities and craft a proposal to address it. Past proposals have focused on topics such as emergency preparedness, youth mental health, period poverty, addressing hunger and more.

Audrey and Iyanna’s proposal, titled “Kickstart the Game”, was selected to represent Delaware and compete for an opportunity to win $5,000 in funding. Audrey and Iyanna will present their proposal to YMCA Youth Governors in Orlando, who will then choose the finalists.

Project Summary:
Kickstart the Game is a project dedicated to expanding access to soccer for adolescents in underprivileged communities across Delaware. This project seeks to break down the financial barriers by providing resources, training opportunities, and support for young players who might otherwise be excluded. Kickstart the Game, through affordable programs, equipment, and local partnerships, aims to create an environment where talent and passion, not financial means, determine a player's opportunity to grow in a sport.

Best of luck to Audrey and Iyanna as they prepare for Florida!
