British Literature Class: Faith Connection
This month, juniors wrote meditations based on their reading of "Meditation 17" by John Donne in Mrs. Valerie Wright's Wit and Persuasion unit. The class is learning about rhetorical devices through the study of literature in order to explore the varying reasons to write persuasive pieces.
This month, juniors wrote meditations based on their reading of "Meditation 17" by John Donne in Mrs. Valerie Wright's Wit and Persuasion unit. The class is learning about rhetorical devices through the study of literature in order to explore the varying reasons to write persuasive pieces.
Students gathered in the Oratory to transform their state of mind as they wrote, connecting them spiritually to their assignment and centering them in their faith/beliefs as well as the charisms of Archmere.
Isabelle Kim ’27 Selected to Music Teachers National Association Senior Performance Voice Competition
Congratulations to Isabelle Kim ’27, who was selected for the Music Teachers National Association Senior Performance Voice competition, to be held at the MTNA National Convention is Minneapolis, Minnesota this March. The soprano submitted her video audition in December and was awarded as one of the top seven high school singers in the nation. She now goes on to compete as a finalist for the national prize. Isabelle is a member of the Mastersingers and is a student of Mary Ellen Schauber, Director of the HRAI.
Daniel Qi ‘26 and Kathrine Wang ‘27 Selected for Delaware All-State Orchestra
Congratulations to Daniel Qi ‘26 and Kathrine Wang ‘27, who were selected for the Delaware All-State Orchestra. Daniel will once again resume his role as first chair and Concert Master for the prestigious group. Kathrine is third chair viola. The concert will be at the Everett Meredith Middle School, 504 South Broad Street in Middletown, Delaware at 3:00 PM on February 22, 2025. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, contact Mary Ellen Schauber for information.
