Michael Liu ’26 Wins Harry Hammond Scholarship

The Harry Hammond Scholarship is an award given to the top three boys and girls in the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour. This year’s first place Harry Hammond Scholarship Award winner is Michael Liu ’26. The scholarship is given in honor of Harry Hammond, a Master Professional and the Director of Golf at Penn Oaks Golf Club. To be eligible, the student athletes had to not only participate in the Harry Hammond Invitational tournament, they also needed to submit an essay.
The topic for this year’s essay was: “During COVID, families found golf as a replacement for other outdoor activities which were closed. That resulted in a 20% increase in participation nation wide. Do you believe this trend will continue in the future?”

Finalists for the scholarship were determined through a selection committee review of these essays. As a first-place winner, Michael earned a cash award aimed to support his college education.

Michael is also a proud member of Archmere’s first ever DIAA State Golf Championship team. Congratulations, Michael!
