Archmere Welcomes Students From Yanping High School in Taiwan
The Department of World Languages and Cultures began the next cycle of Archmere's Exchange Program this month. We welcomed 10 students from Yanping High School, located in Daan District, Taipei City, Taiwan. Two teachers accompanied the 10 students, who were matched with and hosted by Archmere families in their homes.
The exchange students enjoyed school activities, staying with their Archmere host families for six days, and immersing themselves in American culture and language. Mandarin Chinese language teacher, Ms. Yachi Yu, stated of the successful visit, "The warmth and generosity of our host families had such a positive impact that the students didn't want to return home. Because of the kindness shown by everyone, Archmere will always have a special place in their hearts."
The Exchange program is comprised of a cycle in which Archmere students first visited the Taiwan students last summer, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of Taiwanese culture and Mandarin Chinese language. Collaborating closely with Yanping High School and various local communities, our students engaged in activities aimed at deepening their understanding of Taiwanese culture and establishing meaningful connections with their Taiwanese peers. The reciprocity of this program not only reinforces the learning opportunities for our students and the larger Archmere community, but also enhances and strengthens the relationship between the students themselves.
