Archmere Art Students Recognized With 186 Scholastic Art Awards!

Sixty-one Archmere Academy Art Students Recognized with 186 Awards in 2025 Scholastic Art Competition, winning the most awards of any school in the State of Delaware for 5th Consecutive Year!

Archmere Academy students were awarded a total of 186 awards across 13 art and design categories in the 2025 Scholastics Art & Writing Awards competition. Notable highlights this year include a record number of Gold Keys awarded to a single student in the category of Architecture & Industrial Design, with senior Roman Guerrieri ‘25 winning three Gold Keys in the category, and the most individual awards for a single student. Seniors won 4 Art Portfolios: Jace Walker ‘25 Silver and Gold (2 portfolios), Grace Yang ‘25 Gold, and Rylon O’Donnell ‘25 won a Silver Portfolio Award for Fashion, the first Fashion portfolio ever awarded to Archmere. Ninth grader Sophia Silverman ‘28 was awarded a record 23 individual awards across six categories. Archmere students were also collectively awarded an impressive 55 awards in the Drawing & Illustration category.
 
What is next for award winners?
  • The 2025 Scholastic Art Awards Gold Key Art Exhibition will be on display at the Arts Center gallery at Delaware State University from January 28 - February 14, 2025, with a reception and awards program for Gold Key winners on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.

A special Art Awards Reception will take place at Archmere Academy in the Patio for all Scholastic Art Award Winners (Gold Key, Silver Key, and Merit Award winners) on Wednesday, February 12th during Auk Block. Silver Key and Merit Award winners will receive their certificates and pins at this time.

What is Scholastics?

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition is the nation's longest-running and most prestigious contest for creative teens. Luminaries such as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Stephen King and Sylvia Plath were all first recognized in this contest when they were in high school.
  • Gold Keys represent the top 5% of entries in any given category
  • Silver Keys represent the top 10% of entries in any given category
  • Merit Awards (Honorable Mentions) are still significant, the judges recognize elements of technical skill and personal vision/voice in your work that deserves commendation.
PORTFOLIO: 4 Awards
Category Description:
Open only to 12th graders, the portfolio category consists of a series of 6 distinct works that communicate a single cohesive idea or visual investigation. The works may come from one category or any combination of multiple categories.

ARCHITECTURE & INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: 8 Awards

Can include 2D work such as hand-drawn sketches, computer-aided designs, blueprints, and floor plans, or 3D work such as handmade or 3D printed scale models, maquettes, or prototypes. Includes industrial designs, plans for models of structures, environments, systems, or products.
