Field Hockey Defeats Concord, Moves on to Quarterfinals

Archmere, the sixth seed, defeated No. 11 Concord at home on October 30th in the first round of the State Tournament. The field hockey team finished the regular season at 11-4, with wins over Division II tournament qualifiers Saint Mark’s, Tower Hill and Tatnall, along with Division I participant Wilmington Charter. All four of their losses came against teams seeded higher than them: Division II’s Wilmington Friends, Caravel and Newark Charter, and Smyrna of Division I.




The Auks defeated Concord 7-1 in the first round. Seniors Elisabeth Jalot and Maura Read each scored twice to lead the Auks. Fellow seniors Kirsten Wenger, Layla Clark, and Carly Polskly each contributed one goal. Archmere advanced to play No. 3 seed Sussex Academy on Saturday, November 2nd at Sussex Academy, where they lost to the Seahawks.
