Nicholas Salameda, senior at Archmere Academy, signed his letter of intent to join Colgate University’s lacrosse team on November 21, 2016. Colgate University is a Division 1 athletic program located in Hamilton, NY. A varsity lacrosse player since freshman year, Nick completed last season with 121 ground balls, 123 caused turnovers, 12 goals, and 14 assists.
During his Archmere career, Nick was named All State Honorable Mention and First Team All Conference his freshman year, Third Team All State and First Team All Conference his sophomore year, and US Lacrosse All American, First Team All State, and First Team All Conference his junior year. Nick was also named captain of the Archmere Academy varsity lacrosse team his junior year.
Nick’s lacrosse career began at an early age. His elementary years were spent playing with the Wilmington Wings, where he initially began playing and learning the game in second grade. The first club team that Nick played for was the Rippin’ Rope Lacrosse Club, which is owned by Archmere Academy’s Head Lacrosse Coach, Pete Duncan. In addition to his high school lacrosse team, Nick has also played for nationally ranked teams. For the past six years, Nick has been competing with Crabs Lacrosse, a nationally ranked club team out of Baltimore, MD.
Academically, Nick excels in the classroom. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society. He boasts an Overall Weighted GPA of 4.01, which does not include his senior year, in which he just received a First Quarter-Weighted GPA of 4.5. Nick has received Summa Cum Laude honors twice.
Aside from lacrosse, Nick enjoys participating in various activities and school clubs. On the sporting side, he has run cross-country, participated in the Ultimate Frisbee Club, and played Intramural Basketball and Flag Football. Throughout his years at Archmere Nick has taken advantage of several school clubs, including the Stock Club, Model UN, Student Council, Canine Club, Conspiracy Theory Club, Ecology Club, Horticultural Club, B+ Club, and is also one of the editors of the yearbook.
