Ms. Anne Wisgo Receives 2025 Carl S. Campion Service Award

During each Catholic Schools Week since 2017, Archmere Academy presents the Carl S. Campion Service Award to a member of the Archmere community in recognition of their dedicated service with consistent, selfless giving for the school community, and a commitment to the many facets of Archmere life. Character, dedication, integrity, and humility have defined the lifelong service of Mr. Campion and this year's recipient, Ms. Anne Wisgo, has similarly left her indelible mark on the Archmere community.
Before presenting the award, Mr. Campion addressed the students about what we truly value in a student: character, work ethic, and being a good person. As Principal Katie Thiel wrote in her Friday letter, "Ms. Anne and Mr. Campion are blessings to the foundation of this community and I feel grateful to work alongside them each day. We should all aspire to be more like them, sowing seeds of compassion.” She also included an excerpt from her remarks at the assembly:

This year’s recipient of the Carl S. Campion Service Award is Ms. Anne Wisgo, a legendary Archmere figure who has worked in Sage Dining for the past decade. However, Ms. Anne first put her faith in Archmere decades ago when she enrolled her daughter at Archmere with the first class of girls in 1975. While Ms. Anne’s stature may be small, she is mighty, with an unwavering faith and a heart of gold. In a recent Archmerean article about Ms. Anne, she says, “My house was always busy, always filled with kids coming and going.” Well, it’s safe to say that Anne’s job is also filled with kids coming and going as they purchase their breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for the day. Ms. Anne is a reminder that service doesn’t have to be a grandiose concept. Sometimes the best service is a collection of small, deliberate and frequent acts that change a place for the better, and that is certainly what Ms. Anne’s presence has done.

Prior to the award being given, Mr. Campion reminded the students about the daily school wide quote: "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members," by Coretta Scott King. He went on to say,

All of us need to be stewards of compassionate actions. We need to look out for one another, help when needed, be cognizant that the little things matter, and be mindful of the power of our words. Our actions in the service of others matter. It does not matter how big or small those actions are. It is this mutual respect that makes for a strong community.

Congratulations, Ms. Anne!
