Grace Yang '25 Recognized as American Visions Nominee
The American Voices Award for writing and the American Visions Award for art are prestigious honors that represent the different geographic regions of the Scholastic Awards. Senior Grace Yang’s drawing and illustration, Elevator Space, was selected as one of the Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards' American Vision Nominees. Grace is an AP 2D Design student of Archmere Art Teacher, Ms. Rachel Briggs.
Grace was first recognized by earning a Gold Key in the region, which was a prerequisite for the nomination. Each region selects five works to nominate for the American Vision award, the five best in show awards in the state of Delaware. One of the five nominees will be selected by the National Scholastics program to represent the Delaware Region in the national competition. The Awards’ core values of originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision are key factors in the selection process. Additionally, regional jurors may consider various elements that showcase talent and diversity, such as different mediums, viewpoints, and backgrounds.
National Medalists and their educators are honored with a star-studded ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Recent special guests include Oprah Winfrey, Tim Gunn, Alec Baldwin, Tituss Burgess, Amy Schumer, Kelly Clarkson, Zac Posen, Mayim Bialik, Tschabalala Self, Nick Cannon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Derek Luke, Kinsale Drake, Tina Fey, and Rose Byrne.
