Monthly College Counseling Update: March 2025

Junior Career Day

Twenty-three Archmere parents, alumni, and friends, donated their time to talk with juniors during twenty-two educational sessions and a keynote address on Wednesday, March 26th. It was terrific proof of the power of the Archmere network, as students got to hear from engineers, a computer scientist, a nurse, doctors, a real estate agent, a school counselor, wealth investors, and many more professionals.
Students also had the opportunity to do workshops on networking, winning interviews, and entrepreneurship. Huge thank you to all our volunteer presenters, faculty that assisted, and set-up crew for all their help. We’d also like to show our appreciation to Suzyn-Elayne Soler for coordinating the program again this year.

Seniors

Final application decisions have been released and now the power of choice returns to the students. Over the next eight weeks, prior to the universal deposit deadline of May 1, seniors will be revisiting schools, asking questions, and debating pros and cons. We congratulate them on investing time and effort into their applications and also finding schools that fit their needs. College Counselors have sent out Work Period meeting invites for the month of April to welcome conversations about final decisions, financial aid package reviews, waitlists, and reassuring students that their final decision isn’t going to be wrong because of the time they’ve put into their search. April 8th will also be a class wide Senior Coffee during work period to celebrate as a group and discuss next steps.

Juniors

About 60% of juniors have completed their family meeting and almost 85% of students have scheduled their meeting. We’re hoping to complete all meetings prior to Easter Break; however, we will have time to complete them later if necessary. The conversations have been very productive. Sophomores

We will be announcing sophomore counselor assignments in the coming weeks and welcome students to schedule an optional meeting with their counselor during the month of April, primarily about course selection. However, the discussion can go beyond that and we welcome other inquiries from students.
