Archmere's Global Studies Program is getting ready to travel again, this time with ten students and two teachers to Nicaragua over Thanksgiving break to tutor students at Centro de Oportunidad, a youth school (in Nueva Esperanza, a barrio outside Granada) sponsored and built by Neighbors to Nicaragua, a non-profit organization founded by Wilmington native Chuck Selvaggio. Archmere students will support the Centro students in reaching their literacy goals. Leaving 11/24 and returning 11/30, the Archmere group, when they're not tutoring, will tour the city of Granada, enjoy ziplining, splash about in a waterpark, and experience the colorful culture of the country. Archmere's 11/15 tag day will collect funds for the barrio school, but please donate on your own by clicking here on the Neighbors to Nicaragua website. For more information about the Global Studies Program, contact Mr. Dougherty.
