Archmere Students Attend the Annual Youth in Government Conference
13 Archmere students attended the annual Youth in Government (YIG) conference in Dover, DE from April 4-6. Over 3 days, students in the judicial branch argued/heard a case as both attorneys and judges, students in the legislative branch wrote and advocated for bills in the House and Senate chambers, and students acted as lobbyists as well as ran a press corps that publicized and covered the whole conference.

Ethan Flores was elected Chief Lobbyist for the 25-26 year (one of 4 members of the student leadership of the whole conference alongside the Youth Governor and the Chief Justice)
Selena Yang was elected Editor in Chief (Press) for the 25-26 year (one of 4 members of the student leadership of the whole conference)
Olivia Benson was awarded Outstanding Justice (Judicial)
Rebecca Wang won the Character Development aware for Judicial
Rebecca and Kathrine Wang won Outstanding Brief (Judicial)
Ethan Flores won Outstanding Legislative Priority
Audrey Curtis and Iyanna Flores were selected by the YMCA Changemakers program (see attached flyer)
Juliana Maceda was selected to argue the case in the final judicial showcase on the last day of conference
Olivia, Kathrine, and Juliana were nominated to attend NJC (National Judicial Competition)
Ethan Flores was nominated - for a second time in a row! - to attend CONA (YMCA Conference On National Affairs)
Brinton, Kellyn, Rebecca, Kathrine, Olivia, Kellyn, Juliana, Ethan, Madison, Iyanna, and Audrey are now 2-year veterans
Adriana and Joseph joined YIG for the first time -- they both did an amazing job and we hope to see them back next year
They got to hear a variety of Delaware State Legislative and Judicial leaders as well as U.S. Senator Chris Coons and U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester speak.
Iyanna Flores's bill was passed through both chambers (House and Senate) and signed by the Youth Governor!
