Boys, Girls Indoor Track Teams Shatter More Records at DIAA State Championships
The 2023-24 Delaware high school indoor track and field season came to a close on Saturday in Landover, Maryland. The 200 meter oval at Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex was the perfect site for the DIAA State Championship meet. After an incredibly successful season, the girls ended the indoor track season with a 6th place finish and the boys ended the season in 8th place, the highest in program history. Senior Jack Maister took 1st overall in the long jump, with a leap of 22-8.5.
The 4x400m Girls Relay team of Helen Socorso, Alaina Thomas, Jules Witherell, and Maddie Priest finished 4th overall with a time of 4:11.72, shattering the school record by over 7 seconds. The 4x200m Girls Relay team of Gia Giorgianni, Gabby Dove, Ella Harshyne, and Jules Witherell finished 6th overall with a time of 1:51.16, breaking the previous school record by 2 seconds. Highlights also included the 1600m run by Richie Angiullo, who placed 6th overall with a time of 4:30.09, which was just shy of Coach JR Creekmore’s school record.

Jack Maister - 1st in the long jump with a leap of 22-8.5 and placed 2nd in the 55m dash
Jane Willin - 4th in high jump and triple jump
4x400m Girls - the team of Helen Socorso, Alaina Thomas, Jules Witherell, Maddie Priest finished 4th with a time of 4:11.72, shattering the school record by over 7 seconds
Daphne Addo - 5th in the shot put with a throw of 35-05
4x800m Girls - the team of Alaina Thomas, Bella Doncel, Peyton Bale, and Helen Socorso finished 5th with a time of 10:12.20
Richie Angiullo - 6th in the 1600m with a time of 4:30.09 which was just shy of Coach Creekmore’s school record
4x200m Girls - the team of Gia Giorgianni, Gabby Dove, Ella Harshyne, and Jules Witherell finished 6th with a time of 1:51.16, breaking the previous school record by 2 seconds
Caden-Cole McKinney - 8th in the high jump with a leap of 5-10
Helen Socorso - 8th in the 800m with a time of 2:26.35
Camilo Alvarez - 8th in the 800m with a time of 2:02.12
