Two-Year Health Curriculum

Students at Archmere Academy are required by Delaware State Law to complete Health Education (2 credits). This requirement is satisfied in the students' ninth- andn tenth-grade years. Students meet one day per cycle throughout one of the two semesters. The program is team-taught by the school’s guidance counselors, athletic trainers, and school nurse with each instructor dealing with his/her respective area of expertise.
Grade 9 Health:
  • General introduction to health, health issues, followed by an introduction to mental and emotional health issues. The course also covers drug and alcohol education and concludes with the students participating in Red Cross First Aid training
Grade 10 Health:
  • Drug education followed by personal and consumer health issues including communicable and non-communicable diseases, anti-smoking, cancer prevention, and nutrition.
