Members of Archmere's Aevidum Mental Health Club Published in Healing Magazine
The spring, members of Archmere's Aevidum Mental Health Club had the opportunity to contribute to the Spring/Summer 2024 issue of Healing Magazine, the flagship publication of the KidsPeace organization with over 50,000 subscribers. The issue of KidsPeace’s Healing Magazine focuses on giving a platform to views on the mental health of America’s youth from a group sometimes ignored in the discussion: young people themselves. The Aevidum Club is supervised by Archmere School Counselor and Director of Wellness, Ms. Francesca Pileggi '06.
The magazine’s special Spotlight section, “Are You Listening? Youth Voices on Mental Health,” features a mosaic of observations and opinions from middle school and high school students. To find contributors, KidsPeace partnered with Aevidum and Bring Change 2 Mind, organizations which work to create student-led awareness initiatives to break down the stigma and silence about mental health among children and young people.
Cecilia Sacharok '25 wrote her own article for teh magazine while other Aevidum club members contributed anonymous comments to be used in a Q&A-type dialogue on students’ experiences with mental health issues and what they think needs to be done to address them appropriately.
The Spring/Summer edition also offers perspectives on the mental health support under-represented communities need, and on the ways to define “success” in residential treatment programs. Twice a year, Healing Magazine delivers thought-provoking information and perspectives that address issues of
importance to children’s professionals, therapists, educators, parents, and others who have an interest in seeing kids grow, thrive and succeed in life.
