This is an update to the original January press release:

Even MORE Scholastic Art Awards!
This year, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards website updates resulted in some delayed awards notifications. We are excited to have just learned that Archmere Art and Design students have won an additional 16 Scholastic Art Awards, bringing the total number of awards to a record 159 individual awards for Archmere Academy!
For the fourth consecutive year, Archmere won more individual awards and more Gold Key awards than any school in the state of Delaware at the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards Show. Archmere Academy students were recognized with 157 awards in 13 art and design categories, including 8 Portfolio awards. Student work is evaluated based on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision.

What is Scholastics?

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition is the nation's longest-running and most prestigious contest for creative teens. Luminaries such as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Stephen King and Sylvia Plath were all first recognized in this contest when they were in high school.

  • Gold Keys represent the top 5% of entries in any given category
  • Silver Keys represent the top 10% of entries in any given category
  • Merit Awards (Honorable Mentions) are still significant; the judges recognize elements of technical skill and personal vision/voice
